Jolly Phonics Purple Readers - Inky Mouse & Friends - Level 5 (Print letters)

The Purple Level Books (fifth level) use only decodable regular words based on the Jolly Phonics letter-sound knowledge, covering:

• The 42 main letter sounds and alternative spellings such as:
  ay as in day, ea as in seat, igh as in high, ow as in low, ew as in dew,
  oy, ir, ur, al, aw, au, ph, air, ear, are

• A few tricky words are also included but clearly listed

• Children are encouraged to apply the rule:
  “If the short vowel doesn’t work, try the long vowel”

• Faint type is used to mark silent letters (e.g., the b in lamb)
